Portrait of Jimm

My Jimm in watercolor, 22 x 15″ by Joyce Lieberman

Interesting that the famous artist Les Biller was willing to try a portrait of Jimm in oil paint on canvas. We had six sessions of Jimm modeling for both of us. We were at Les’s studio with his full set up for oil painting and I brought watercolors for portability, like the gear I bring for plein air painting.

Day 1, Les cuts in on his canvas and I make these watercolors.
Another week, Les is building up the structure, so fun to see all his refinements. I am wondering how to go slower.

Starting to become intrigued by Jimm’s hands.
Les complimented this watercolor so I had it made into a puzzle. The photo deepened the color of the puzzle, the smaller image of the two.

Then we came in and he announced that he was finished, no painting that day.

Here is the finished oil on canvas portrait with reference to the music Jimm writes.
