Starting in on a new canvas

Tacking a 3 x 4′ canvas to my dry wall to paint, I think of cutting in on a new canvas.

I put my favorite Stool Pidgeons Rule Hermania CD on. Been awhile, can barely remember how to use the CD player.

I have muscle memory of cutting in on my Unstill Life series. I immediately start to place a pale wash of dirty orange in the center of a vase on a table. Flowers lifting upward and swirling with the palest of colors. Then I add the bluebirds and our pet bunny and cats getting into mischief. A palette knife of thicker yellow is next. Then I pause

The beginning
The music to get the energy
As it progresses, I am dreaming of color combinations pink, orange, yellow and turquoise that mixes to green with the yellow

The parrots came squeaking across the sky and I had to go out to see. There were about 100 in their squadron. As I looked out and above, my eye caught the goldenrod light on some date palms. The orange gold was brilliant and inspiring.

Coming along
After a day of laying it flat on my big pink table
Coming along in early February, my favorite month in Southern California. It’s an early spring before our April spring and the atmosphere delights me with it’s hopefulness.
A little more darks
