Low Fire Planters in July

By Joyce Lieberman August, 2025 In July, I started a project to use up my red and white low fire clay. It had to be reclaimed in buckets because it had hardened. Amy, a new neighbor  who had just broken her pot, wanted to learn how to do it and was really enchanted by the …

Bear Repair

I fell in love with rough hewn carved bears many years ago and a little over a year ago I bought one from Jack Eppinga who carved it out of pine and darkened it with blacks and browns. Even Bunny was excited about the new arrival. Bear has a great expression. But after a while …

Collaborations of Joyce Lieberman with Staci B Sipe

“Summer Dreams of Bathing Beauties”, “The Engagement Picnic” and “Mexican Honeymoon” AI mentioned some of my collaborations. Working with designers and art consultants was on the list. The other two are still available. Which variation do you like?

A flurry of small canvases

February is my favorite month of the year in Southern California. The days are getting longer and the buds are starting to come out. It’s like a first spring with a second one to come in April. So feeling better, I have been painting more. Here are some of the recent small paintings I have …

Wildflowers in Spring from 1992 revisited by Joyce Lieberman

Which photo looks best? The only thing holding this 1992 beauty back was a pinkish wash that needed more umber and a few shapes that required more definition. Do you have pieces in your studio like that? After 30 years, thay need another discerning look to become vivid and alive again? Which of the two …
